54 Soleils is an exhibition of digital prints made from 54 drawings. They are inspired by scenes from a 60’s horror film “The Incredibly Strange Creatures who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies” by Ray Steckler. Freeze-frames, pauses between two scenes of the film and the influence of the artist’s imagination imbued with the film were the three creative approaches that guided the creation of this series of images, some conversing with others with the red sun, a symbol of the end of the day, as the only anchor.

Born in Santiago de Chile in 1978, Gonza Meza was interested in art from an early age. He studied at the “Liceo Experimental de Arte” and then at the “Escuela Moderna”. In 1990, he became an illustrator for the newspaper “El Siglo” and was recognized as the youngest professional illustrator in Chile.  Since his arrival in Montreal in the spring of 2009, he has created four solo exhibitions that he exhibits throughout the province, in addition to participating in numerous group exhibitions, symposiums, cultural circuits and continuing his work as a professional illustrator.
