Your principle residence is not located in the territory of the municipality or in the MRC?

You may be eligible to vote if you are an owner of an immovable or if you are an occupant of a business establishment in the territory of the municipality or in the MRC as of September 1, 2020 or before.

You may be eligible if you are, for example:

  • Owner of an apartment block;
  • Co-owner of a chalet or a secondary residence;
  • Tenant of commercial space.

To be eligible, you must be 18 years of age or more on the day of the election and be a Canadian citizen on September 1, 2021. You must not be under curatorship or be declared guilty of an infraction that constitutes an election fraud maneuver.

To exercise your right to vote, you must submit an application for entry on the municipal list of electors, the MRC list of electors or the referendum list.

How to apply?

The form to be completed varies depending on who is making the request:

  • The sole owner of an immovable or the sole occupant of a business establishment must complete SMR-9.2-VA;
  • The undivided co-owners of an immovable or the co-occupants of a business establishment must designate a sole person, amongst themselves, who will be registered on the list. To do this, the form SMR-9.1-VA, must be completed

The application or power of attorney remains valid until it is replaced or withdrawn. If you wish to replace or withdraw an existing application or power of attorney, please contact the Returning Officer.

*In order for the application to be valid for the 2021 election, it must be received by the municipality on or before the last day for filing an application for amendment with the Review Board. The Returning Officer will specify this date in the coming months.
