Information about the Youth Council

The Town of Dunham is working with École de la Clé-des-Champs to form a Youth Council to represent the interests of the children of the municipality at Town Council during the 2021-2022 school year.

The following positions are open to all children in grades 5 and 6:

  • Mini-Mayor (one position to represent the school);
  • Mini Counselor (four positions to represent the school).

The nomination period is now open and runs until October 14th – 3 p.m.

If more than one student applies for the position of Mini Mayor, and/or more than four students apply for the Mini Counsellor positions, a ballot will be held on the following dates and location:

  • Sunday, October 31, 2021 – advance polling day;
  • Sunday, November 7, 2021 – polling day;

at the Keystone School gymnasium, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Candidates for election will be required to prepare an election campaign and present their ideas and values to other children in the school.

The Youth Council elections will be held concurrently with the Town’s municipal elections. Children in grades 1 to 6 will be invited to vote at the Town of Dunham’s youth table while their parents exercise their right to vote.
