On May 7, 2019, the Municipal Council of Dunham unanimously adopted a resolution to prohibit plastic bags on its territory, effective September 1, 2019.
Plastic bags have been removed from Dunham businesses and are banned, whether they are thick, thin, biodegradable, oxo-degradable or compostable. At present, the resolution adopted by the Town of Dunham does not take into account product packaging.
The Action Environnement Dunham (CAED) committee is working closely with the Town of Dunham and various other players to reflect upon and identify potential options toward the fight against climate change throughout Dunham and its surroundings.
Dunham is following suit of other municipalities, such as Bromont, who have already banned plastic bags.
